The Holocaust Poem by Raymond Farrell

The Holocaust

The great evils
Man has perpetrated
On his fellow man
Are not mindless acts
But the deliberate amalgamation
Of evil and genius
The Holocaust stands out
As an act of pure evil
Combined with pure genius
For there you see
The SS officer
In his clean uniform and polished boots
With whip in hand
Giving orders to a Jewish Kappo
Who then transferred these orders
From one Jewish Zondercommando to another
And on down the line
Thus the murderers deliberately separated themselves
From their victims
Turning them into accessories to murder
The victims led other victims
To the gas chambers
And in time the same was done to them
Victims forced victims to strip
Misled them about their fate
Sorted their personal belongings
Pulled their corpse's gold teeth
And removed the hair
Then cleaned the chamber
For the next group
To be gassed
And so a vast diabolic killing machine
Processed its victims
By using other victims
And when everyone kills someone else
All are deprived of their innocence
And die burdened with guilt
Even when the people
Are herded into the gas chambers
And the canisters are dropped to the floor
Through hatches above
And the gas that is heavier than air
Slowly rises up
Provoking terror in the victims
Resulting in the strong
Trampling underfoot the weak
In their effort to get oxygen
So the piles of victims
See husbands, fathers and brothers
That have trampled underfoot
Children and wives
In the English language
There are more than one million words
Yet not enough therein
To comprehensively express
The diabolic nature
Of this evil killing machine
That cost millions
Of innocent people
Their lives.
