The Human Crimes Break Our Hearts Poem by Rajendran Muthiah

The Human Crimes Break Our Hearts

I am a habitué to the hills
as the heart with pleasure it fills.
Wonderful emotions make our minds full
and in cool shades to slumber the breezes lull.
The hot plains our hearts grill
but the green hills awe us with thrills.
No where we can enjoy life as we do here
by bathing and dancing in rills and falls.

I travel with my friends in routes
where the wild animals make themselves at home
and in the dire spots we used to hire shelter.
But never do the pachyderms chase us to scare!
At times, we hack our way through the jungle
but the reptiles don’t shock us with hiss.
When God shoulders the burden of saving us,
why should we suffer pain and strain?
Lovely memories the mounts awaken
but the human crimes break the hearts in plains.
