The Incredible Journey Poem by Nishi Kumari

The Incredible Journey

Rating: 5.0

Free like a bird, was he when born
Untouched by the gloominess of the
surrounding air.
Newly born, he now carries a bright smile,
With deep eyes so full of liveliness.
..
Looking at him, the sun also giggled,
Brighter it shined witnessing his so
Lively smile.
He too got mesmerized for a while.
..
But the golden days of childhood sank in quick sand somewhere,
So soon like a short dream,
All colours so lost in thin air.
..
Now then someone came and knocked on the door of his.
A letter came, said "Welcome to your life's new phase."
With no clue he was clueless,
So did it reflected on face,
The bright sun then sighed,
For the first time in his life,
This child's face has put down its liveliness.
..
Then the old gloomy surrounding air came by,
Whom before he ever met,
He had played along and had never acknowledged.
..
But clueless he is,
He finds his only refuge,
The notorious wind now, gives him a clue.
..
It asks the sublime and pure soul,
To hit the ground,
The ground so Thorny, Hot and with Blinding Sand Dunes.
The wind says to him,
"Dear, Now the planning has begun for the new
phase of your life",
With lowered shoulders and dimming shine in his eyes, he accepted that his fate is already sealed.
But remember it was not by his own choice,
He was a disciplined one,
Always listened to what the passing winds say.
As it kept murmuring in his ears in low voice,
"Plan your life now or else you will fail".
..
Unaware of the meaning what success and failure meant,
He learned to march,
On the tunes coming far from the winds singing the sea shells.
Chasing the tune,
He never realized though when he slowly became the captive of the notorious atmosphere,
He was the new victim,
Whenever faster he marched with bleeding bare feet,
Everyone cheered.
..
Ten he became,
It was after this when he was made privileged,
To know what he will do when he grows little more old.
The buds of aspirations within his heart
Keep yelling for the spring yet to come so that they may again bloom.
..
Fate laughed through his face with irony,
Showing his most wicked smile,
Which was earlier never seen.
He says,
"Don't they know the barren land where they are born? "
Here there is only one weather which exists
Autumn as everyone names it.
..
He lost the race as the planning failed,
But the passing winds whispered with a different tune, a different plan again.
With all the courage, he geared up again.
To fight the battle, he is a young man now.
The time, no it didn't pass now but it flied away.
Yet the day came when his plan got executed well.
Relief, satisfaction or sigh? He questioned himself.
He smiles forcefully,
With a miserably carved out smile.
Paddling through all emotions inside.
With hopes to find the a trace of happiness he was chasing so long but what he found was just emptiness and void behind.
Sad but still hopeful,
Without realizing the scary truth.
The happiness couldn't find its existence in his question.
With another knock on the door.
The evil air came again beside his presence and says:
"It is just a checkpoint dear, brace up because the race has just begun"
He looked towards the sun and it still shinned
Whether it was brightness or rage, he never could decipher.
With no rest to his legs but hopes in his heart,
He kept running, ignoring the chains which were tied to his feet.
And this time, older he grew, now expert in art of wearing the most
believable smile.
The one day finally came when he couldn't stand up on his fall.
As this time the weight of void was more than the hope he had cultivated in his heart.
But relaxed he sat at the same place
And observed the racing track for the first time.
The track was a never ending circle..!
Which he has crossed a thousand times
What he missed, was a pause to witness.
"Disappointment, regret or dissatisfaction? "
He didn't know what it was,
When tears rolled down his cheeks with utter pain in his heart.
Happiness came from aside to give him a tight embrace.
"I was always beside you, within you, around you and in every breathe you ever took.
But you never acknowledged.
You were so engrossed in the plans you made.
And You took too long to acknowledge my presence"
"Life had always been so beautiful since when you were born,
But you chose to be blind and walked on every unnecessary thorn"
Happiness, yes! It is with no more doubts
The old man lied down with eyes closed to witness.
And gaze at the beautiful world,
Before for forever he closes his eyes.
