The Inevitable Darkness Poem by Patti Masterman

The Inevitable Darkness

The inevitable darkness
Shears the universe in half
Half is visible and half's in disguise
And spontaneous light falls in on itself
Curling into the blurry mantle of the beast
Ragged stars dashing across the trailing horizons
Dragging mountains behind, like continents stretched too far
The deepest midnight tears slashes into the hollowed eye sockets of the moon
And it's crabbed pinions manage to wrench open the jaws of dawn's softest implosions.
