# The Islander Poem by Shamik Kumar Bose

# The Islander

Have I not been swimming for so long?
Inside this water so muddy prolong
May I now think only?
That time has come for me
To leave this island permanently!

May I not to fondle?
A desire so hard to handle
That to dive so deep
Evening where descends a crimson sun for a sleep
To abscond inside a bottomless wish

Have I not only?
Learnt just words so many
Chirped like a bird only
Just talked so much only!

Those flocks of white wings!
Such bright feathers so unruly
Now they take off for a journey
From its map fly away
Away forever!

How much may I long?
To float like them abandon
Liberate inside song so turbulent
Infuse into deep azure so resplendent
Like a cloud to dress
In glee so careless
And again one day to land
Into the shore of this island!
