The Kingdom Of Dogs (11) Poem by Freeyad Ibrahim

The Kingdom Of Dogs (11)

by Freeyad Ibrahim

In our Middle-East villages,
I would not enter a village
without having stones in my pockets
because of their aggressive dogs,
If they bite you, they would kill you,
Cause you to lose a part of your body,
Or make you mad.
And the treatment takes months
Extreme difficulty and pain
As for the dogs in our Netherlands,
They pass by me and they are peaceful
like their owners,
And they do not lie hypocritically
or make false appearances
Jumping for joy to meet me
And I feel afraid
Why afraid?
Fear not of the dog,
but of the attachments of the past
The dog's owner says:
She is peaceful and will not harm you
Truly,
She is someone like you
She would be peaceful, kind, cooperative,
and she is helpful, like you

I am no longer afraid of the dogs
or the dog's owners
And I am extremely relieved here
Because there are no Stones here,
Netherlands is STONELESS!
