The Kingdom Of Dogs (4) Poem by Freeyad Ibrahim

The Kingdom Of Dogs (4)

by Freeyad Ibrahim

She gave him raw meat
She shifted her gaze between him and the picture
of her dead husband hanging on the wall,

Petting the Dog and saying:
'He's just panting, '
'He does not cry when he is hungry
He does not want grilled or fried meat
No pasta
No yoghurt
No spices
No butter
No eggs, orange juice
No fruit
No kebab
No fried chicken,
No kofta
No dolma
No shawarma

This is satisfied with raw meat or bone only.'

In the night she threw herself into bed
and felt the loss of something lost in her life
Then she looked at the dog
Who waited for the orders at the door
Just Panting
with its white foamed big tongue

‘He just obeys and does not resist,
Just obeys.'
She pointed at him
He jumped to her
Saying nothing but
Panting...
