The Lamentation Poem by Hannington Mumo

The Lamentation

There sweeps across the roofs of the world an endless cry
Of smothered breaths tucked into pockets of lack;
It soars to the sacred gates of the heavens
A muffled lamentation of desolate souls in woe;
A cacophony of unanswered pleading
By hapless offspring of a disabled couple
Whose cry jostles for audience with that of their children!
