The Last Wonder

There are eight wonders of the world
You are the first one.
The last wonder is not one of them
A man wonders where he was before he was born
With the before his mind is torn
As if it adds value to this life
Of knife and strife

Stochastically thrust into this domain
He wastes his limited brain
Hankering after the afterlife
As if he has dispensed with this present life

Have you mowed the lawn?
Paid your loan?
Answered your phone?
Made your house a home?
Your cat?
Your dog?
Loved your neighbour?
Helped your wife in labour?

Your kids?
Their needs?
Taken a rest?
Done your best?
Given back to earth?
For your birth?

You prepare for heaven
Unprepared for this haven
The earth
You prepare for your death
Your last wander
The last wonder.
