The Leaf And I Poem by Vera Sidhwa

The Leaf And I

Spoke to Me

The green leaf spoke to me.
It was covered with soot.
It's paler didn't seem too smooth.
The black smoke like layer didn't suit it much.

The leaf showed me around.
The pollution did abound.
It asked me what the meaning was
Of so many cars and such.

I could not answer with dignity.
You see it was all about money.
More stores, more factories, more...
I could not admit to the leaves.
