The Law Poem by Vera Sidhwa

The Law

Rules

I used to think rules
Were meant to be broken
When I was a teenage
And simple girl.

Then one day, I thought
Rules were meant to be bent
When I a bigger girl
And I bent some.

One day, I had a chance
To break a rule
While driving faster on a freeway.
But the cop caught me.

One day, I realized
I thought rules
Should be sometimes
Changed, sometimes bent and sometimes ignored.
