The Legend Of Pegasus Sired By Poseidon (A Warning) Poem by Alexander Thomas

The Legend Of Pegasus Sired By Poseidon (A Warning)

In heavens above us a storm from a spiralling lie,
To Earth onto mortals' heads falls the reason why,
From the tempestuous life of the God of the sea,
By his betrayal of wisdom he was to be set free.

Born from a gaze that could turn men to stone,
Of a stricken cold heart fatally sad and alone,
A fearless hero did dare to chop off her head,
From her blood he flew out when she was dead.

A white winged horse he soared into the sky,
With blessed angel wings to heaven he could fly,
In kick of hoof came a fountain of poetic inspiration,
A joyous bath in it to bring forth a flow of creation.

A bold rider came to befriend him when at rest,
To put faith in man's companionship to the test,
Together in adventure the chimera they did claim,
With thunder and lightning he the icon of fame.

On the back of divinity man went beyond his stride,
In ascent to Olympus God cast man off for false pride,
Legend climbs on to the stars whilst man falls in humility,
Because only with true faith can the seas rest in tranquillity.
