The Lid Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

The Lid

The lid

While we, youths
Were on roads against shah
Cutting air, our fists, high
Roaring our slogans,
Stood there an old man…

I stopped, and we talked.

Guess was not a Muslim,
Possibly, Christian…

"I am not against faiths
But fear governments
That rule by religions! "

His words cut like chisel
Carving deep, and inner
Of the heart, and brain.

"Religion is a pot
That boils with a lid on,
It adds to appetite,
Am afraid that mullahs
Hurry and take lid off…"

His message is received.

So, far leaders proved
That when God is ruler
Through the interpreters:
"Stink all religions! "

Politicians abuse the name of our Infinite Intelligent God for gaining power. Let us search for getting a bit closer to that intelligence, not by listening to wicked politicians but by making it quiet inside and try to listen to the voice of Intelligence that is permanently present in nature.
