The Lone Wolf - Poem by Monica Partridge
The lone wolf's heart is always open for you
there's nothing that she will expect you to do
she'll maybe ask for a few kind words in her ear
or just a 'thinking of you' is so nice to hear.
We all pass by each other like ships in the night
too often not seeing what we had in our sight
the awesome treasure of a gift from the heart
this friendship so priceless it will never depart.
As the years go by and we start to look back
we realise we shouldn't always follow the pack
as a lone wolf often has so much more to give
of the miracles we find if we know how to live.
Doesn't take much to break free from the crowd
by taking a stand that can make us feel proud
with one simple step we can achieve our dream
and a few trusted friends to complete the team.
These are friends who give the lone wolf strength
who will stand by her side and go to any length
to nurture as she chooses the path to walk along
and gathers inspiration that gently spurs her on.
She carries on regardless of the trials in her way
for she knows that tomorrow will be another day
that brings hope even when the odds are down
that the tiny seeds of success have been sown.
