The Lonely Planet Poem by alan brown

The Lonely Planet

Rating: 0.5

I sit here all alone at night
thinking of the past.
Will my memories fade with time
or will they always last.

I think of green hills far away
when I was but a child
And storms so angry beating down
I never thought I'd survive.

I think of times full of life and joy
and times when I would cry.
And I'd watch the seagulls in the sky
as they effortlessly passed us by.

I dream of wonders of this world
but are they really true.
But the wonders that I think of most
are the wonders brought by you.

Sometimes I walk the paths of age
and see that times have changed,
But better things were left behind
and I see them full of rage.

We treat this planet like a child
as if it were a retard
But unlike a child we destroy it
at this we try quite hard.

So lets think of the future now
not only of the past.
And then our lonely planet
might have a chance at last

Perhaps things will get better with time.

Our beautiful planet is mercilessly exploited and abused! If man had been a little more careful, how different our planet Earth would have looked! A very thoughtful write!
