The Messenger Poem by Adelowo Ifedayo

The Messenger

Rating: 5.0

How mighty is thee?
And how mighty is thy sword?
I wonder how powerful you 're?
And how you fought the mighty ones
Even the brave and courageous fell under
Your sword
You slay without mercy, you maim without pity
So do you kill without compassion
You don't care either old or young
You just take them away from us
Some years ago, you took a dear friend
And we felt sad for the one we lost
So you came again and took another, and
So it goes on
How come you don't temper justice with mercy
Or is that just your way?
Is that what you 're created for?
Youturn a sweet home to sorrow
You turn a whole country to ashes
You took our love ones away for no reason
You made us cry for them and yet
You don't care or,
Rather you don't have a choice?
For you are inevitable to mankind
For one day you shall takes us all
And for just one day there will be no more
Souls for you to take
Then what will thy do?
Will thy maim thyself?
Or thy will wait till we come back again to this world?
For you 're just a messengers of thee
Who created thy, but after all your
Messages are delivered,
What will thy do?
It's a question all mankind can't give answer to
A mystery we can't unravel
