The Middle Path (Free Of Wrath) Poem by Chuy Amante

The Middle Path (Free Of Wrath)

I've been around family, friends and others,
who say 'we are all brothers'
sounds good as long as you think like them
but good luck buddy if you condemn

Why not find the middle ground?
Not mine, not yours, but in between
Can we do that, be true
and still feel clean?

Must our way smash all others?
Some much for all being brothers...

If one is humble and the other
a steam roller
How can a mutual solution
be reached, and not be polar?

Those who wear blue or red
seem to drive big dozers
'Screw the other side,
just self-interested posers'

What about couples,
how do they dance?
Is it a Waltz
or a Rave in trance?

What does it take to arrive in the middle?
A helluva lot more than play the fiddle.

When one gives and the other takes
it all goes to hell, more mistakes

When one takes and there is no give,
does that make a comfortable place to live?

Why can't two people both flex and give?
A brand new fresh way to live!

I see the wisdom in a middle path now,
leave the left and leave the right
head to the center, drop the fight

If you can't
and you have to insist,
yours is the best,
others need not resist

Well, have it your way with your insistence
I'll just have to love at a greater distance

Merrily I skip down the middle,
come join me, shrink the ego
until it's little
and down the middle can we go...
