The Moment My Darling Became My Enemy Poem by Mario, Lucien, Rene Odekerken

The Moment My Darling Became My Enemy

The moment my darling became my enemy
was not a storm, but a stillness.
The air shifted, heavy and sharp,
as though the world had exhaled,
but I forgot how to breathe.

Dhr stood across the room,
her laughter now a stranger's,
her hand curled in someone else's,
not by accident, but by choice.
Her gaze did not seek mine.

Their was no grand betrayel,
no shattering sound,
just the quiet breaking of my trust,
splinters into pieces too fine to gather.

I saw her smile,
not at me,
but at the promise of someone new.
And in that smile, I found my absence,
my undoing, my end.

Her, who I loved without measure,
had crossed an unseen line,
and I was left
on the other side of the war
we did not declare.

There was no revenge in me,
no anger,
only the cold weight of knowing
that love could vanish
and leave behind
nothing but a hollow name.

Her,
my darling,
my enemy.
