The Morning Hums A Steady Tune Poem by Mohammad Younus

The Morning Hums A Steady Tune

The morning hums a steady tune,
A cool light skirts the waning moon.
The sun ascends, soft and slow,
Its light unweaves the night's shadow.

In twilight's hush, we are as one,
Serene as dawn, a rising sun.
The moment bends, then slips away;
I wonder—will we greet the day?

Branches sway in the morning breeze;
I walk a path I cannot seize.
No words, no way to call for a glimpse,
Yet He flows through my life, my cosmos—
A truth I sense but can't expose.

I see Him not, just manifestations,
His whispers sing, 'You're my creation.'
Each day, He drifts so far apart;
Each breath, He draws closer—
Nearer than my jugular vein,
The silence speaks—
soothing my heart again.

He speaks in signs, bold yet discreet,
And beckons, 'Stay—let us play Hide and Seek.'
I hear Him now, as once on Alast,
Omnipresent, though vision's cast.
When illusion faded, His presence remained,
The light unveiled, the shadow waned.

The darkness fled, yet here I stay,
His echoes whisper, 'Am I not your way? '
The truth He is, the truth I know—
So near, so far, where can I go?
No shrine, no place could hold Him still;
In my heart, He dwells, spaceless, until...

He wonders at me, and I wonder too,
As I make a child's inquiries true.
I smile when He reveals, grieve when He hides,
Yet trust His hand in life's ebb and tide.

One day, will He let me truly say:
He is me, and I am He—always
