The Muse Is Dead Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

The Muse Is Dead

I felt sad
As muse was dead
I was unable to read
Post anything or feed

You feel separated
When something is parted
I took notice and daily stared at column
It was adding only concern

I was able to read K. Mallick’s name
Only figure striking with fame
I did no more attempts
But silent accepted as person absent

Today I find muse is back
With music and fully packed
So many have filled their poems
It might be concerning to them also

I read opening names with enthusiasm
As everybody is connected with tune and theme
I seize the opportunity to receive some greeting on birthday
As it was for me a special day and further firmly to stay

The Muse Is Dead
COMMENTS OF THE POEM

To get anew again I lose Thee now and then; O my precious love, Thy flight Is only to be back to my sight. - Tagore No, I don't want to lose Muse 'now and then'. Let it be her 'last' disappearance else like Mehta-ji so many will feel 'sad', me not excluded, at the risk of flooding the earth with human tears! Rajat Das Gupta, Kolkata May 22,2015
