The Music Never Stops Poem by Steven Pettry

The Music Never Stops

When the obsession in our eyes
Turned the fire into fights
We walk on the dying coals of our love
It's a fading light, like starts in the sky
All we feel is the glow from its former life.
Now it over shadows the recklessness of our fall
And deepens our appetite for the fervor of our first talk
When we were lost in a romantic bliss
before billowing out in to this emptiness
Truely lost and insecure
wanting to start again
We'll never find salvation in fear,
Only in freedom

I'll outstretch these wings so take my hand
We'll pick up wind and fly once again
Hundreds of stories have been written about this
But this is the only one that has served its purpose

I find I reach the end of this cigarette
Long before I'm able the think of my next words.
Its a habit like a wrong, crooked road
You're too far gone to get back where you were.

But you must let this song save us as it did before
Everyday I'll love you more as I first had sworn
This seperation was just a test
And it expectations we surpassed

Tonight I'll stare again at your sleeping, smiling face
I know you're dreaming of the future,
of our love that has been saved
