The Need For Tolerance. Poem by RIC BASTASA

when that frog wants
everyone to be frogs,
when it says that everything
watery belongs to it,
when rain is the only
solution to all the problems
of this world, or that
the tongue is the most
powerful tool to convince
how life must be lived,
the love for that slime,
ruling that each intelligence
is measure by the length of
one's jump, or that eyes
must rotate a hundred and
twenty degrees,

i shrug my shoulders,
twist my nose, i raise
my hand and for the last
time says, it is time to
say goodbye.

my world lies on the brink
of a disaster and the only
way to survive is to make
tolerance official.
