The News Came Down Today Poem by Paul Warren

The news came down today
That you had passed away
One of the thin blue line
Whose life and mine were entwined

And I was taken back to then
To those days when we could see no end
And we stood together in the blue
I knew that I could rely on you

So you have passed away now
And your past life takes a bow
I know when my time comes to its end
You'll be there to greet me as my friend.
