The Noble Battle Poem by Mohammad Younus

The Noble Battle

The noble battle—
It is not the storms unleashed by others
that undo us,
Nor the thorns scattered upon our path,
But the quiet fissures within our being—
The shadows we neglect to confront and overcome.

Life's truest struggle is not with the world,
But within the hidden chambers of the self,
Where the false self whispers doubt,
and weaves illusions into the fabric of our minds.

To rise, we must turn inward,
Away from the clamor of the restless ego,
And seek the still waters of enlightenment.
For there, in the fertile soil of our hearts,
Lie dormant seeds of peace and love,
Waiting for the tender hand
of self-purification to bring them to bloom.

Let us vow to shine as light amidst darkness,
To burn steadily, like a torch ignited
by our own unwavering spark—
Fueled by resilience, tempered by self-awareness.

For the most noble battle is not conquest over others,
But the quiet, tireless art of taming our vile nafs.

As we grow, root by root,
We prepare for the unknown that lies ahead—
Not with the brittle armor of ego,
But with the quiet grace
of an awakened and enlightened spirit.
