The Numbers Conundrum Poem by Dr Vidya Hariharan

The Numbers Conundrum

Mathematics, algebra, geometry,
Puzzle me absolutely,
Squares, cubes and angles,
Triangles, heights and circles,
Measuring them is difficult,
Drawing them drives me nuts.
Area, segment, circumference,
Do I need to know sizes?
Numbers visit me
In my nightmares
They happily whirl,
Tease me merciless,
say, 'count me, count me'.
I wake up in a sweat
As some of them escape
Swirling out of reach
And I say, 'come to me'.
I would, one day, like to meet
Mathematics, and ask,
Why are you such a riddle?
