Words Regretted Later
The ancients gave us a wise adage-
think before you speak,
at times social badinage
can redden your cheek.
When the thoughtless words
Slip out without pause,
Others will look askance
And blink their eyes, embarrassed.
Afterthought is useless
As the lines can't be recalled,
Promises not to be careless
The next time are always foiled.
The only solution is not to talk,
Cause some minds have no lock.
