The Ocean Poem by Jeff Fleischer

The Ocean

Rating: 5.0

The ocean's waves wash up upon the shore.
Children are playing and building sandcastles.
They are different from the castles in the sky.
A fisherman catches an oyster.
How fortunate for him
That it contains a pearl.
He marvels at its gleam.
A starfish wriggles its body along the sand.
I find a big shell at the water's edge.
I put it to my ear.
It sounds like the ocean beckonging me.
Daring me to plunge into it.
Desiring my presence in its waters.
