The Old Man, The Rain And His Loneliness Poem by RIC BASTASA

The Old Man, The Rain And His Loneliness

the heavy rain
that pours today
keeps the old
man weary under
the mahogany tree

the coldness of
the moment
seeps into the
creaky bones of the
old man weary under
the mahogany tree

his sighs drown
in the coarse sounds
of the heavy rain
that pours today
keeping him under
the covering tree

his loneliness runs
through the cemented
trees wet and cold
stretching as far
as the Sindangan highway.
