The Once Pride Of Kirkstall Poem by Francis Duggan

The Once Pride Of Kirkstall

She is on the decline like a rose of the Fall
In her younger years she was pride of Kirkstall
With chestnut brown dye she cloaks her hair of gray
And with anti ageing creams smooth her time wrinkles away
In her mid seventies of years quite a span
Ten years ago to a younger woman she lost her man
Ten times a grandmother and though time is not on her side
She is not one of those who is lacking in pride
It is said by those who knew of her in her life's prime
That she was the Kirkstall beauty of her time
But since many Seasons have come and have gone
And time as is ever does keep ticking on
To time losing her beauty like the rose of the Fall
She used to be known as the Pride of Kirkstall.
