The One Who Stays Poem by Oluwatosin Thomas

The One Who Stays

I
I know so many faces,
I speak to quite a few,
I share my laughs and moments,
But not all hearts are true.
II
Some people come for seasons,
Some stay only when it's bright;
Some disappear in darkness
When you need them most at night.
III
But friendship isn't numbers,
Or the crowd that calls your name;
It's the one who stands beside you
When there's nothing left to gain.
IV
So after all the people I've known,
The ones I've loved and held so dear,
I'll treasure most the one who stays,
When everyone else disappears.
