The Only Person Poem by Randy McClave

The only person to cause me to cry
Was the one person who told me a lie,
The one who I trusted with all my heart
The one who I believed would never depart.
She was the person who said goodbye.

The only person to cause me to weep
Was the one person with whom I did sleep,
The one who I always kissed and said goodnight
The one who truly made my future bright.
But, now nightmares I do reap.

The only person to cause me to sob
Was the one person for whom my heart did throb,
She caused my heart to love and then to ache
From lying and cheating and promises she did break.
Then from me she did steal and rob.

The only person to cause me to mourn
Was the one person with the thorn,
From pain and agony I gave her love and peace
From which I promised it would never cease.
But, she left me to return to sadness and scorn.
