The Oracle At Peoplesoft - Poem by David Floren

Larry Ellison in stereo.
Entice. Entice.
Bellow hornswoggle thrice.
CEO of Oracle.

Boggle the mice with untender
Tender. Shareholders rendered
Informed or better,

Peoplesoft people, harden.
Brace for the hostile
Takeover that never takes.
Taken down the garden path.

Amble along the fringe
Of this vast hedgerow
Maze you’ve grown
To amaze them, Larry.

See the swath of heads
Scratched, smiles
Of confidence, fake,
From ego’s aft.

Peoplesoft people
Deftly threaten
Defensive brutality, the lawsuit.
Take that.

Business people see People-
Soft cornered;
Wonder whether their
Cash cow will milk.

Larry’s power:
They cower.

Delphic news was often dour,
A shower of tears
When they lost the treasury.
Outwitted by Attic gumption.

Outsmart the crash and boom.
Eyeball what you assume.

Eyeball what it is that you see.
Or make an ass of you and me.
