(in response to Chaled Res' painting dated Dec.9,2023)
.....................
At times the sky's refulgence bespeaks a presence...
I like to give her the name Aurelia.
Golden sunset is the fruition of a day...
so its color is shared with the harvest moon.
The harvest moon is the fruition of a season...
so it gives its color to ripen a squash,
but first you must see through that white rind.
While the moon is getting ready to show Aurelia's face...
daylight strews its palette on the parade route of hours.
The harvest moon is never stingy...
having shared its amber with ripened grain...
it slips away on its carousel of phases...
even as the squash is carried off on our earthly wheel...
of tasting and being tasted.
