A seed of love that never found
The hallowed path to fertile ground,
The fruitless trees, the orchard, bare,
A pain not seen, but it is there
The lonely heart that scarce can beat
For want of love, cries in defeat,
No eyes gaze upon its despair,
A pain unseen, but it is there
An outstretched hand that no one holds
When the mantle of night unfolds,
Whispered low, a desperate prayer,
The pain unseen, but it is there
As the tide leaves, you'll hear the shore
Crying out 'Please, come back once more! '
Alone! What a burden to bear,
A pain not seen, but it is there
The widowed sparrow mourns her mate,
Brief happiness betrayed by Fate,
An empty nest, built with such care,
The pain not seen, but it is there
The moon peers through my window pane,
Holding back tears, I smile in vain,
Of my torment, he's not aware,
A pain not seen, but it is there
Your memory brings such regret,
Yet love whispers 'Never forget, '
A shattered dream beyond repair,
The pain unseen..... but it is there
1 - favorite lines so far: " As the tide leaves, you'll hear the shore Crying out 'Please, come back once more! ' " I just sent to MyPoemList and shall share with others on PH. WONDERFUL 'write'.
A beautifully written, heartrending poem, Lora. Each tear stained stanza highlights the emotional trauma of losing, irretrievably, someone you dearly loved. Very sad.
Love and pain! Very common with us. But, there is hope ahead. Thanks for sharing.
An excellelent portrayal ofhow we all cover up our feelings, but they are there, and so very real to us all. Tango.

2 - Flippers & Mask...[ Inspired By Lora Colon's Great Poem: " The Pain Is There " ; Short; Loneliness; Succor ] Alas, poor Lora, alone in bed at night, feeling the PAIN, albeit out of sight. If I could concoct 4 U a magic potion... to ease pain, I'd swim the biggest ocean. I'd first don my flippers and my mask. A smile in return is all, from you, I'd ask. bri :)
