The Person In Hiding Within, Sleeping Poem by Mohammad Younus

The Person In Hiding Within, Sleeping

The person in hiding within, abiding,
So secretly in this bag of bones,
Sometimes awakes, to whisper wonder words
That I should pen - to read my own scripture,
Since he is my true essence after all.

He's beyond the beyonds, yet is eager
That his scripture I must read, recite, hear.
As its verses are a soothing symphony,
Or like waves that swish and splash and wash clean
An image of image less -- the eternal

This One, who's the essential truth of me,
Is what all gnostic call the Hidden Truth,
He's the living, Self sustaining and eternal,
Neither sleep nor slumber does overtake him,
Rather awakens and enlightens me
