The Pigeons Poem by Randy McClave

The Pigeons

He looked at the congregation sitting on each pew
And all the clothes that was worn were brand new,
And all the beautiful jewelry that they all wore
Bought from the most expensive and high priced store.
The Pastor then wore such a happy face
As he shook their hands with a strong embrace,
As unto the lord for them he gave out his cries
As he was hoping for some healthy tithes.
The Pastor paid special attention to those in the first few rows
He prayed for their health and for their immortal souls,
Their clothing was beautiful when upon them he did gaze
Colored like the feathers on the Robins, Cardinals and BlueJays.
Unto the Cardinals and the BlueJays and the Robins he was preaching
Unto them alone he was hoping he was reaching,
Unto the wealthy he was praising their salvation and religion
But, he didn't notice in the back row, the Pigeons.
