The Piper Lady Poem by Randy McClave

The Piper Lady

The lady piper won't be piping today
Her bagpipes have been stored away,
Inside a closet they have been put to a rest
Sadly, they have not finished their quest.
There is always another tune to be piped
And also always another tear to be wiped,
But, today that tune will not be heard
And sadly, no feelings stirred.

The lady piper is not on the Royal mile
Piping along with an occasional smile,
Wearing a tartan earasaid for all to see
Caledonia, truly is in her company.
The blowstick hasn't been blown, the bag deflated
The fingering of the pipe chanter has awaited,
And the tenor drones are silent with their humming
A tune, they hope soon will be coming.

The lady piper sadly is still in her bed
Resting from an injury to her body and head,
But, this one thing I must say about the piper lassie
She's very determined and brassy.
On the Royal mile one day her pipes will be played
And the Scottish sure enough will be swayed
Soon the lady piper will heal,
Then again she'll be piping with both pride and zeal.
