The Plated Armadillo Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

The Plated Armadillo

By all measure you are unusual
You have armor plates that protect
You can roll into a ball and inflate
You spur confounded respect

God was very clever when designing
Why not fur instead of a leathery shell
You're unlike any other normal animal
For some reason…you are special

Your uniqueness distances you from all else
Is this why you try to stay out of sight
To avoid confrontation from inquiring minds...
burrowing into the ground and hunting at night

Other Armadillos find you to be quite ordinary
Can't understand why people are starring
Each creation and plan under the heavens
Has a reason... remember this when comparing
