The Podium Poem by ANJANDEV ROY

The Podium

Rating: 4.5

This is the touching story of a brilliant boy
Who was born and brought up in a dark and congested lane
With a humiliating and shameful identity.
Everything was against him except his loving mother,
She was his only friend in that black world,
The boy was irresistible with his brilliance and sparkling wit,
He did well in the every examination of life
And one day became famous and well established in the great society.
The mother and her son were very pleased,
Tears of spontaneous joy came in their eyes.
Finally, the boy had touched the podium of success, which was his dream;
What an incredible achievement!
Still some people whispered cynically,
'Is he not the boy of that dark lane? '
He looked at them in pensive mood and thought about the ruthless society,
That was contemptuous and hostile to him even at that time.
