I knew the greedy traveller very well,
He travelled throughout his life
In search of wealth and affluence,
He succeeded in his mission
And amassed a lot of wealth,
But his greed never diminished,
It increased days after days,
Gradually the covetous wayfarer became weary and frustrated,
Then he said to himself,
"What's the utility of the riches, if it can not give peace and stability in my life? "
Therefore one day he donated all his wealth
To a reputed welfare organization of his nation,
Thus the tired traveller became truly relieved at the end,
He understood the value of sacrifice in life
i sincerely appreciate the message yielding last line! A brilliant poem.....10+++
Very fine poem on sacrifice. I would invite you to read my poems (I have five of them) but my account is new and Poem Hunter has not activated them yet. I don't understand this. I thought people would be able to read them at once when they were posted!

Although not Hindu I feel that the last step of a Brahmin to become a sanyasi giving up all their wealth to wander as a beggar in the streets is learning step that would be good for all.
Riches are nothing, if it is not used for the most needy person. And what worth is a sacrifice, if the person for whom we make it does not deserve it! What life is it if we live oblivious of the one who needs your care around you.
