The Poet Suffers The Things Of The World Poem by Frank Sheehan

The Poet Suffers The Things Of The World

The Poet suffers
the things of the world
It's their inevitable destiny
That's how they
gain introspection
and insightfulness
so they can
flower their poems
with such things.
It is not
an easy existence
but the suffering
is part of their lives.
It gives them sensitivities
that are not manifested
within the general populace.
It may sound elitist,
but it is a fact;
one that is beholden
to the truths
of the universe.

I agree. Poets are often far more sensitive, more observant, more affected by things going on around then, especially other people's suffering.
