The Poets' Curse Poem by Blessing Kalamatila

The Poets' Curse

My eyes aimed at the night sky;
but no stars shooting
"not today", I mumble;
cuz all my wishes seem trapped
in these pessimistic clouds.
See!
even If I write from the core,
even If I read from the Bibles' parables;
this talent still won't grow,
cuz my feelings are forever
burried in these
metaphors.
I was hoping poetry
was just another phaze
cuz It's funny how these sad thoughts
land square on my pad with ease
when everything that circles me
is enough to make a heart beat with Joy
despite some of the battles I lost
I swear!
this gift is
but a deceptive ploy;
perhaps to lure your thoughts
into winning your sympathy
so before you snap;
ask yourself if you get
the bigger picture;
cuz I may write simply to capture
your attention;
like an image taken with a
military posture.
well,
excuse my honesty
for I don't need your tears
for if I so please,
I would write from my darkest moments;
to instill you with fear
or write from a place of
felicity;
just to see you smile
understand that this pen
possesses my sacred thoughts
for It needs a mile away from my hand
but take Heart
for whats magic without its
wand?
