The Precursor Poem by DEEPAK KUMAR PATTANAYAK

The Precursor

Rating: 5.0

The precursor
- - - - - - - - - -
Like the first robin
As a precursor of spring
My left eye flickering
My right palm tingling
And not an exception is
My foot desirous of itching
And with fingers crossed
I keep guessing
To know the old saying
When flickers the right eyelid
It's said to be good
And when flickers left eyelid
It's said to be bad
But what would happen
Good or bad
Curiosity deepens
Sickness if it's left
Happiness if it's right
And the tingling palm brings richness
But what about the foot that itches
It denotes a travel soon
To hell or heaven
Funny it may look like
But when things happen
And incidental it comes upon
May we say it coincidence
Of events taking place in chain
Either of sadness or happiness
Happening inconspicuous
And it's turning authentic in the course
And what would you say
Of a token of nature
As a superstition
Or a premonition
Or a precursor
Like the first robin
Signalling the coming of spring
As the king of season

I thought superstitions are here in Kerala only....it’s a new knowledge that it’s the belief of Indian hearts....nice

I feel this is just coincidence and there isn't much truth or (any truth) in what you referred to! But in any culture and any land, a number of such superstions prevail! We are so uncertain about our future and we do not know what is going to happen next.... May be this uncertainty leaves us believers of the superstitions and takers of the occult! Any way quite interesting to read and know of such prevalent beliefs! I have heard of the assumption behind the itching palm! Enjoyed!

Aloha Deepak... Bravo! My dear friend and highly accomplished bard... at least in this moment! No jokes my brother... very well thought through and written... ya musta burned a ton of saw dust! I would enjoy seeing and hearing this read in your Grandfather's native tongue... would it sound like angels chanting? I believe this would be so... You are the words King... but that lasts only for a few seconds... glad you have developed your thoughts into this write, and thank you profoundly for sharing this with the all of US... All of the best from this life, to you, and all of your relations... Michaelw1two.
