While Walking At Twilight Hour Poem by DEEPAK KUMAR PATTANAYAK

While Walking At Twilight Hour

Rating: 5.0

I was waylaid and almost dead
Trampling upon things of beauty scattered
Down the walk at twilight hour
Above a lonely star
As beautiful as Venus was twinkling
And no moon around was shining
Only a soul or two was going past me
And a company of two used to walking at this hour wee
And I was slowing down my pace to see
What was there lying and sparkling with dew in glee
As if from heaven afresh descended
A cluster of stars here and there circling round
To slumber in peace upon the dewy and sleepy path
None had stumbled over prior to my feet
A mist came on and I could see
But a little way before me
And through the mist came the sound of a melody-king
Up above the tree-tops chirping and twittering as if the breather of a
living spring
And I looked up and saw a figure as good as a tree
Standing tall and looked deeper than darkness and as old as a century
With branches laden with flowers sweet and fair
Flinging whiffs of perfume in the air
Oh what a congregation of soul of good things
That met at the hour divine and made the earth look so inspiring
Me, melody, mist, flowers and perfume
With sunniness afresh all I carried home
Oh God, unawares my feet was over the heart of those little blossoms
That my heart cries and aches and all seem cheerless
I now beseech your pardon right
For abashed and bashful am I at your holy feet

Amazing poem appreciating the flawless beauty of nature all around with a bit of caution- Not to spoil this beauty at any cost. Thanks a lot, Deepak ji, for sharing this poetic marvel.

The twilight hour is so serene and blissful. It brought me back the memory of Delhi. Even a place as busy as Delhi looked so peaceful in my few of the twilight hour walks that I was able to take. Congratulations for member poem place.
