The Present Poem by Bonnie B Long

The Present

Rating: 4.0

I gave you a present you pushed it away
We no longer talk day to day
I’ll leave you alone as best I can
Until my attention you demand

I believed you when you said you care
Now with my hopes I don’t dare
Is there any way I still have a chance
A yes would really make me dance

You’ve tossed aside a really good thing
Maybe it’s time to give me a ring
The phone hasn’t wrung in oh so long
I know I must have done something wrong

If I killed your feelings I’m sorry is all I can say
I must have been having a really bad day
My life is in turmoil I’ve been really down
I’d like to be able to remove this frown
