The Problem With Too Many Breakups Poem by Daya Nandan

The Problem With Too Many Breakups

There is a danger that comes with consecutive failures in your love life,
Too many setbacks might make you give up on finding a husband or wife,
You might trust less, commit less and ultimately give up way too fast,
Giving each new relationship a short lived life that will not last,

You will compare each new individual to the last person you loved before,
You might put too many expectations on them causing them to walk out the door,
You might rush progress to match the previous relationship of the past,
Only to realise later that your impatience is breaking the relationship down fast,

It is true that through many breakups you learn to deal better with depression,
But in turn such experiences often leads to your heart's suppression,
You don't love as strongly because you don't really fear failing at love,
You hold yourself back in many ways, your hands covered in a layer of glove,

You slowly become numb to emotions, you feel failure will come anyway,
As a result, you will not try hard enough to find solutions in every way,
Your lack of faith and effort will inevitably leave your partner frustrated,
Making both of you lose hope in the circle of love that you have created,

So, practice going against your fears, try to give a 100% in each relationship,
Do your best prevent a major shipwreck, do not make the cruise a wasted trip,
Change your mindset, be more optimistic and hopeful in love and humanity,
Hold on as much as you can, do your best to not make your love an exercise in vanity!
