The Purpose We Breathe Poem by Cynthia Buhain-baello

The Purpose We Breathe

It is not for unfulfilled dreams I live
For always these would be futile to gain,
Fame, riches, trappings, all that we believe
Will make life wonderful and good to attain.

Money may ease life and can make it fast
With drinks in the night, and women at hand,
Mansions and flashy cars, but these do not last-
When true living's essence, we don't understand.

We live for the people who love us true
The human ties we were born to be with,
We live for the reason there is good we can do-
A task God had given, the purpose we breathe.

This journey is finite, and it has a sure end.
But while days are here, let our purpose be done,
An accounting of life with Time well spent
To write touching words to almost everyone.
