The Question Poem by Linda Harnett

The Question

Rating: 2.8

Should I go out?
Or stay,
Where it’s warm,
Comfortable,
And familiar,
And safe.

I should go out,
Wrap up against,
The bitter winter chill,
And the thick,
Freezing fog,
That obliterates,
The view.

One can be lost,
In the fog,
Left alone,
To one’s thoughts,
In time, enabling,
Its dense shroud,
To bring,
Clarity of thought.

Should I then stay?
Encased in my,
Freshly painted room,
Leaving others,
Wandering aimlessly,
In gloom,
And take comfort,
From my thoughts,
Metamorphosing,
In prose.

Should I go out?
Or stay,
That is indeed,
The question.
