The Rain That Never Came Poem by Ashok Suresh

The Rain That Never Came

Rating: 5.0

The Ghazals reminded him
the love he lost somewhere
And days before this long summer
that knows nothing green
He cried for things he thought
that had broke somewhere
but never really had
a chance to live in him.

He cried for the rain that never came
For the sweet memories he never had
And the girl he never saw
Though every day between wakes
and dreams he saw her somewhere
his eyes could not take him.

And he never looked up
for he thought she looked at him
all the time he looked down
He never wanted to break
her solemn gaze for one second
And so he lived all his life looking down
feeling her eyes looking his way
He never failed her and saw nothing
other than the square inch that
that held his life till the end
true to the love he never had.
