The Remnants Poem by DEEPAK KUMAR PATTANAYAK

The Remnants

Down the silent river of time
The remnants of golden days rhyme
As I walk down the day
Down the night
I come across many a sunset’s golden ray
Standing deserted and silent
From the ways of men far away
Once grandeur of old days long past
Suffered mutilation at the hands of time
That came ruthless and fast
Ah! I wonder gazing on those far shores
Of monuments and ancestral halls
What would be the story
Of kings and queens
Of maidens and cavaliers
Of subjects and rulers
And tales of comedies and tragedies
Triumphs and losses, hopes and fears
Along the ocean of life
Sailing the sailor amidst many a strife
Once placid served life’s harbour
Lashed into fury at the hands of time
Tossed and torn the past glory
And left the remnants as history
But the solemn silence now reigns
Everywhere around the past glory
And the peace brooding
Sunshine dancing
And the beauty blossoming
Over such remnants that haunt many………….
